JOL PROGRAM - The Junior Operator License (JOL) is a license or permit students get before they turn the age of 18.
In order to get their license they must first pass the learner’s permit test, complete 30 hours in classroom instruction, complete 12 hours of behind the wheel instruction with Bay State Driving School, complete 6 hours of in-car observation with Bay State, complete 40 logged hours of driving outside of the driving school and the parents must also complete a 2 hour mandatory orientation before any part of the program is started.
After completion of the Driver’s Education program at Bay State Driving School, the Registry of Motor Vehicles will issue a certificate of completion. Then, the student may schedule his/her road test exam, given he/she has had his/her learners permit for 6 months or more or turned the age of 18, whichever comes first.
